Interior group snapshot, Cantor Solomon Gisser [centre], who served Shaare Zion Congregation for 45 years until his retirement in 1997, is presented with an honorary doctor of music degrree from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America (JTS) by Chancellor Ismar Schorsch in a New York ceremony. The citation was awarded in recognition of his lifelong contributions to the cantorate. At left is Rabbi Marton Leifman, JTS vice-president emeritus.
