Notes: b&w, Lou Zablow presents plaque to General Jean V. Allard at Holocaust rally in Montreal Narrative: Lou Zablow (1924-2005) was a Holocaust survivor from Lodz, Poland. He survived the Lodz ghetto, was deported to Auschwitz where he stayed four days before being sent to slave labour in Lieberose, Sachenhausen, and Mauthausen concentration camps. In April 1945, he was forced on a death march to Gunskirchen concentration camp where he was liberated by the US army. He immigrated to Montreal in 1949 and became the president of the Association of Survivors of Nazi Oppression (circa 1963-1971) and took part in the creation of the MHMC in 1979. General Jean Victor Allard (1913 – 1996) was the first French Canadian to become in 1966-1969 Chief of the Defence Staff, the highest position in the Canadian Forces and to hold the accompanying rank of general. During WW2 he was Deputy Commanding Officer of Régiment de la Chaudière in England and in December 1943, he became the Commanding Officer of the Royal 22e Régiment in Italy. At the end of the war, he was in command of the 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade.
