1 page, double-sided horizontal paper. Recto contains handwriting of Laszlo Mandula, continues onto verso, signed "Laci". Right side verso addressed to "Weinberger Gusztav / 108/101 szd. / Borgoprund / Beszterce-Naszod m." Sender's address at left. Narrative: Donor is Elaine Kalman Naves, daughter of Gusztáv and Anikó Weinberger. Gusztáv returned from the front to learn that 34 members of his extended family, including his wife and small daughter Évike, had been deported to Auschwitz. Only one cousin returned. He remarried Anikó Schwartz and they had two daughters, Elaine and Judith. This collection of correspondence was used as part of the research for the following book: Kalman Naves, Elaine. Journey to Vaja: Reconstructing the World of a Hungarian-Jewish Family. Montreal: McGill-Queen's University Press, 1996. Print.
