- 1 page, double-sized, folded horizontally and vertically. Two holes punched at left. Recto, top left printed with bilingual Czech and Hungarian letterhead from which the Czech has been crossed out. Letterhead reads "WEINBERGER TESTVEREK" [trad.: Weinberger brothers]. Letter is addressed to Kalman and is dated at top right "1942. februar 9". Verso is signed "Béla". Narrative: Donor is Elaine Kalman Naves, daughter of Gustav and Anikó Weinberger. The letter was written by Béla Weinberger to his older brother Kalman Weinberger (1881-1944) who was Gustav's father. Béla was a partner along with his brothers Ern?, Pal and Miklos in Weinberger Brothers' farm in Kajdano, a Subcarpathian village 10 kms from the city of Muncaks where the Weinbergers also had business concerns including a liquor store. Both Béla and Kalman were killed at Auschwitz in 1944. This collection of correspondence was used as part of the research for the following book: Kalman Naves, Elaine. Journey to Vaja: Reconstructing the World of a Hungarian-Jewish Family. Montreal: McGill-Queen's University Press, 1996. Print.
