B&W with white border. Portrait of Manya Bilich and her son Musi Bilich. Full-face view of Musi (on left), wearing a dark dress shirt with pointed collar. Manya (on right) in three-quarter view, looking to her right. She has short dark hair and wears a dark shirt or dress with a bib collar and three light buttons down her chest. Narrative: Portrait of the mother (Manya Bilich) and brother (Musi Bilich) of the donor, Olga Rabinovitz Bilich. Manya was born c. 1904 in Liubar. She and her husband Zelik were hidden by Kiril Chernish at the beginning of the German occupation, but he asked them to leave because he felt it was too dangerous to shelter Jews. Manya was raped by Nazis and Ukrainian police. She and her husband were murdered in 1941 by Ukrainian police.Musi was born circa 1921 in Liubar, Ukraine and attended university in Odessa. He was conscripted into the Red Army and killed in combat in 1944 near Ternopil (Tarnopol).
