- The material mostly relates to Louis and Regina Sheydwasser, who immigrated from Lodz, Poland to Montreal in the early 1930s. Some of the records also relate to Regina?s brothers Nathan Smith and Zelig/ Selik Smith and possibly to her parents. Some of the material is in Polish. The papers include: Immigration and citizenship documents: 2 fragile Polish passports, 1930; 2 Polish passports, 1934; Birth Certificate and other official documents in Polish, 1910-1943; 1 Canadian passport, 1959; Notice of eligibility for naturalization, 1935. Immigration Identification card, 193? 2 Certificates of Naturalization, 1940; Certificate of Naturalization, 1945; Certificate of Naturalization, 1970. Correspondence: There are 4 letters, 1939-1950, of which two are regarding immigration visas, possibly regarding trying to help family leave Europe. One letter, in Polish, is from Regina's brother Nathan while he was in the Canadian military. There are 4 newspaper clippings, 1945-1955, in English and in Yiddish, mostly about postwar reactions to the Holocaust. Also 2 Expo 67 passports, 1967; Certificate of Business registration for Louis Sheydwasser's millinery and lingerie store, 1932; Ketubah/ Marriage Certificate, 1938, and marriage contract, 1938, for Louis and Regina.
