News Story: He died after a year long illness. Was the oldest Jewish member of parliament of Canada, highly respected for his knowledge and humour. 1st elected M. P. for Cartier division, in 1917, and reelected ever since. Very active in Jewish affairs. Mostly recently, was President of Canadian Jewish Congress. Honourary Vice-President of Jewish Publication Society of America. Born in Lancaster, Ont. on 6 May 1871. Graduated from McGill and Laval Universities. Fought for Jewish causes; of special note as chief advocate in prosecution of anti-Semitic propagandist Plamondon. Expert on railway law. Since 1928, member of Law firm Jacobs, Philips, Sperber. Worked hard to ease entry of 100s of Jewish immigrants to Canada.
