OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, April 1, 1993 Benjamin N. Goldstein of Saint John, widower of Ida (Freedman) Goldstein, died on Wednesday at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Phillip and Rose (Rubin) Goldstein. He was a lifelong resident of Saint John where he owned and operated Ben’s Music Store on Charlotte Street for many years. He was a member of the Musician’s Union, of the Masonic Lodge and of the congregation of Shaarei Zedek Synagogue. He is survived by two daughters, Roslyn (Mrs. George Avery) of Toronto and Janet (Mrs. Allan Stern) of Halifax; one sister, Bertha Master of Saint John; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The body is resting at the Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, from where the funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Goldstein of Halifax and formerly of Saint John, husband of the late Ida (Freeman) Goldstein, was held from Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street. David Lubin of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek officiated. Members of the Chevra Kadisha served as pallbearers. Donations were made to the Canadian Cancer Society; CNIB; the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation; the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation; VON Saint John Inc.; the Community Food Basket; and the Church of St. Andrew and St. David.
