OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, February 28, 1925, Page 5 Girl’s Death Is Shock to Friends Esther Grosweiner, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Grosweiner, of Summer Street, passed away at her parent’s home yesterday after an illness of only a few days succumbing to an attack of double pneumonia. The young people of the whole Hebrew community have been greatly saddened by the untimely death of the little girl who was patrol leader in the Young Judean group of Girl Guides and very active in her work for and interest in the Girl Guides organization. Esther was a pupil of Winter Street school and a child of great promise who was beloved by her companies and all who knew her. She was taken ill only on Tuesday and died yesterday afternoon. So sudden was her passing that her companions had not realized that she was ill when they learned of her death. Besides her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Zagerman, of Montreal, who will arrive in the city today, and Miss Rose at home and one brother, Sydney, at home. The funeral will be held on Sunday from her parent’s residence, 74 Summer Street, to the Jewish cemetery. Grosweiner, 74 Summer Street to the Jewish cemetery. She had been patrol leader of the Young Judean company of Girl Guides and the Young Judean Guides and Scouts attended the funeral to pay tribute to their young comrade. She had been a member of St. Paul’s No. 5 company before the Young Judean company was formed and a group of guides from St. Paul’s company was also present. Mourners were there in very large numbers.
