The largely attended funeral of Max Baig, well known metal merchant of Amherst, N.S., who died at Pugwash, N.S., on Thursday of last week, was held on Sunday morning at 11:30 o’clock from Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, King Street East. The service was conducted by Rabbi N. Borerstein, assisted by Flt. Lf. A. Babb of the chaplancy service of M.D.7. Mr. Baig at one time resided at Saint John, but removed to Amherst about 20 years ago. He was a highly respected citizen of both Saint John and Amherst. Friends acted as pallbearers. Interment was at the Hebrew lot in Fernhill cemetery.

Block – At the Service Nursing Home, Amherst, N.S. on October 4, 1955, Mrs. Rose Block, widow of Israel Block, and daughter of the late David and Sarah Baig, survived by four sons, one daughter, one brother, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from O’Neils Funeral Home, 669 Main Street with service. Interment was in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
