- History / Biographical
- Born in 1877, Rabbi Jacob Gordon was Dean of the Toronto Rabbinate for 30 years. He was founder and organizer of Toronto Hebrew Free School and Hebrew Free Burial Society. He was executive member of National Council of Zionist Organization of Canada and a founder of Canadian Jewish Congress and member of its Central Region Executive. He was the first Rabbi in North America to teach Talmud in Hebrew and authored several learned religious tomes. He died in 1934.
