- Tatiana Jour is a Russian-speaking archivist born in Riga, trained in Moscow, and living in Montreal for the past eight years. For this project, she collected archival material and scanned items from the private collections of recent Jewish immigrants from Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union. The project has received funding from Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal. Donors to the project include poets and writers, scientists, historians, publishers, musicians, graphic artists, Holocaust survivors. war veterans, and athletes. Most have immigrated here since 1991.

- Archives Juives de Montréal was founded by Tatiana Jour in 2005 with similar collecting aims to CJCCCNA, but since 2007 Mrs. Jour has been depositing the materials collected for this project here. Montreal Genizah, a Canadian intellectual journal in the Russian language, was founded by Tatiana Jour in 2005 and one edition has appeared to date.

The story behind the painting of the boy, titled "Lullaby," is that the officer asked him to dig his own grave and before he was killed he played on his flute a lullaby his mother had sung him as a baby. The burning ghetto and other Jews are seen behind him. The face of the pregnant woman is based on that of Volshov's mother. The book in her hand is meant to be a prayer book, but the lettering was not added at the time of donation

- Mrs. Slutzky-Kohn, a Holocaust survivor, was born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in 1980. She was a teacher as well as a poet and writer in Yiddish. She is currently completing two books on the Jewish community, one poetry and one prose

- Igor Tsypine, born in Moscow in 1939, came to Canada in 2002. His profession in Russia was that of scientist specializing in metallurgy. From a family of scientists (his father won the Stalin Science Prize in 1950), Igor Tsypine now writes articles for the Russian press
