Narrative: Sara (Hermann) Heiss was the mother of the donor, Erika Bloom. The Heiss family fled Nazi-occupied Vienna in 1938, after Salomon was arrested and detained in Dachau for 3 days. They survived the war in Shanghai, immigrated to Israel in 1949, and eventually settled in Montreal.
