- Framed painting, 'Shiva', of ten men in prayer shawls, painted by Joyce Jason in 1966 after the death of her mother. The artist notes: "I did this painting in anger against the Jewish faith because I wanted to be able to say the prayers but because I was a woman was not allowed to." The donated works on paper consist of: 3 silk screen paintings dated 1969 depicting numbers 5, 6, and 7, accompanied by Hebrew letters. 6 watercolour paintings, of various sizes, the smallest approximately 11" x 14" and the majority approximately 20" x 24". Reflecting the themes of the Tarot, juxtaposed with Hebrew letters, they are signed and respectively titled: "Moon" (includes a portrait of the artist's dog) 1981; "Key 13 - Death" (includes faces of the artist's parents), 1984; "Key 16 - The Tower", 1985; "Key 12 - The Hanged Man, 1984; "Key 11 - Justice", undated; and "Key 4 - Emperor", 1979. Various articles about the artist as well as versions of her CV were donated as electronic documents. The collection also includes a 1919 composite photograph of the founders and trustees of the Hebrew Protective Association of Montreal, an early Montreal Jewish mutual benefit association. The image includes the donor's maternal grandfather A. Leithman (also spelled Leitman).
