- OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, March 11, 1988 Rebecca N. Jacobson of 22 Parklawn Court, widow of Jacob Jacobson, died at her home on Friday, March 11, after a brief illness. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late John and Bessie Epstein. Educated in Saint John, she worked for Hope Grant Insurance Ltd. For 49 years and was honored by her employer with a reception on her retirement two years ago. She was involved in various community and religious organizations including the Saint John Art Council, New Brunswick Museum, Saint John Symphony, the Insurance Women’s Association, Shaarei Zedek Synagogue, Henrietta Szold Chapter of Hadassah-WIZO, Sisterhood Congregation Shaarei Zedek, Jewish Community Players, Shomer Club and the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum. She is survived two sisters, Doreen Epstein and Fran Babineau, both of Saint John; and three nieces, Barbara Joan Gross of Toronto, Brenda Louise Budovitch of Fairfield, N.J., and Revie Janice Walman of Kitchener, Ont. Funeral services were held at Castle Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street and interment took place at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Donations to Rebecca Jacobson’s name can be made to the Hadassah WIZO Organization of Canada. Resting at Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley) 91 Leinster Street, from where the funeral will be held today with service at 4 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
