- Born in 1909 in Melville, Saskatchewan, Sol Kanee was a barrister by profession. He was a president of Canadian Jewish Congress, and a chairman of World Jewish Congress's Board of Governors. He was also a director of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews as well as a director of the Bank of Canada. He was president of Soo Lines Mills Ltd. of Winnipeg and director of Kanee Grain Co. Ltd. He was also chairman of the Canadian National Mills Association.
