White border. Double sided rectangular card, with photograph on the recto, and black text on the verso. Taken outside. In the background is a red flag with a black swastika in the middle. In the foreground is Joseph Goebbels. He is wearing a grey suit, and black tie, standing behind a brown podium. Narrative: The Law Concerning Editors created the legal basis for the regulation of the press and settled the personal and political conditions which one had to fulfill to pursue the profession of editor. The cigarette cards were packaged inside of Salem cigarette packs and were used as NSDAP propaganda in the 1930s. They were meant to be collected and inserted into an accompanying album.

Standing between the two men is the German Embassy Counsellor Smend, a bald man wearing a black suit, and holding a black hat in his hands in front of him. 528 pages, bound hardcover book. Light green cover, dark green spine. No title information on cover or spine. Volume 6 of Gesammelte Schriften (Collected Works). Narrative: Walter Rathenau (1867-1922) was a prominent German-Jewish industralist, author and politician. During the Weimar Period, he served as German Foreign Minister. A moderate liberal, he was a founder of the German Democratic Party and an advocate of assimilation for German Jews. Hated by the far right, Rathenau was assassinated in 1922 by extreme German nationalists. His books were banned in Nazi Germany after 1933 and the mass burning of 'un-German literature'.
