- Clara Hoffer was the wife of Israel Hoffer, one of the founders of the Jewish farming colony of Sonnenfeld, Saskatchewan. Land of Hope, written by Clara Hoffer and her daughter F.H. Kahan, is a creative non-fiction account of Israel Hoffer's journey to Canada and his life homesteading in southern Saskatchewan up until the end of the drought.
