- Flying Officer Harry Ratner of Winnipeg, Manitoba, died of injuries received in a motorcycle accident according to an official announcement. Flying Officer Ratner enlisted in the air force and trained at Saskatoon, Mossbank and Portage la Prairie, from where he graduated as a bombardier. He received his commission in July 1943 and was stationed in eastern Canada before going overseas. There is a Star of David on his tombstone. (Source: Veterans Affairs Canada web site)
