- Cap is round with a thin raised rim around the circumference. On each side there is a small space in the rim. Narrative: Ginda Kalujna Rosenblatt was born in 1891. She was a graduate of the Women’s Medical Institute of Saint Vladimir University, Kiev. After receiving her degree, Dr. Rosenblatt was conscripted by and served in the Russian Army from 1917-1918, at first as an intern and then as a captain. She was assigned to the 266th Regiment, working at the military hospital in Ostrog, Ukraine, and was later assigned a post closer to the front. The regiment was constricted by economic difficulties, transportation difficulties, and growing unrest among the troops with regard to the Russian military authority. In late 1917 the 266th regiment decided, independently of the central government, to end their part in the war by demobilizing the troops. Dr. Rosenblatt agreed to this scheme and, along with Dr. Henryk Zamenhof, was responsible for the diagnoses of “heart ailments” among the majority of the members (probably in good health) of the regiment. She herself was diagnosed with a heart ailment and received an honorable discharge in 1918. Dr. Rosenblatt was reunited with her husband, Abraham Rosenblatt, in Kiev shortly afterward. After the war, she practiced medicine in Briceni and then Lipcani, both in Bessarabia, Romania (now Moldova). Dr. Rosenblatt and her family immigrated to Toronto in May, 1934. Although she fulfilled the requirements for an M.D. degree at the University of Toronto, she chose to devote the rest of her career to social work. Dr. Rosenblatt died in 1986.

- Approximately 30 pages. Hardcover, cardboard bound with cord. Cover is dark brown, faux-leather with a very defined imprinted floral pattern; the title is gilded on the upper left side. The right side has an attached copper-coloured metal embellishment, surrounded with a fabric tape border, with gilded detailing. The embellishment is of a profile of a boy, resting a pick axe on his shoulder. The spine is covered with a brown plastic tape; a brown cord is threaded between 2 holes, positioned vertically on the spine, covered with plastic reinforcements. Inside covers have a brown wood-grain pattern. Interior pages are black cardstock, with brown picture corners glued to the surface, however, no pictures are found throughout the book. Pages are interleafed with beige, textured vellum. A card was inserted into the first page: beige with a black double-lined border and black printed text and black fields, which have been filled out by hand, with pencil. Narrative: The inserted card is a receipt for a new applicant to the Jewish National Workers' Alliance in New York, dated January 1, 1951.

- Shaped like long scissors, with a flat, rounded tip. On the inside of the tip there is a shallow area, with teethed edges. The 2 sides are connected near the bottom with a peg that is easy to separate (not completely screwed together). Narrative: Kelly forceps are a type of hemostat usually made of stainless steel. They resemble a pair of scissors with the blade replaced by a blunted grip. They also feature a locking mechanism to allow them to act as clamps. Kelly forceps may be floor grade (regular use) and as such not used for surgery. They may also be sterilized and used in operations, in both human and veterinary medicine. They may be either curved or straight. In surgery, they may be used for occluding blood vessels, manipulating [tissues], or for assorted other purposes. They are named for Howard Atwood Kelly, M.D., first professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Johns Hopkins. (Source: wikipedia)
