- History / Biographical
- Freda Carlofsky (b. 1904 - d. 1984) was born in Ottawa, the eldest of David and Hannah Carlofsky’s five children. Freda's siblings included Abe, Anne, Rose and Sol Carlofsky. The Carlofsky's were a talented and philanthropic family. Freda held a senior position in the government at the Department of National Defence. She was involved in various organizations and groups throughout her life; she sat on the United Israel Appeal Committee in 1950, was a member of the Beth Shalom Sisterhood, was president of the Hillel Lodge Women’s Auxiliary in 1978, and was active in Ottawa drama leagues. She was the vice president and program director for the Jewish Theatre Guild in 1948. Freda acted, directed, and produced numerous plays for the Young People's League of Synagogues of Ottawa, the Ottawa Drama league, the Jewish Theatre Guild, and Junior Theatre. Freda Carlofsky passed away in 1984 following a lengthy illness.

- 1. Oil painting is framed and wrapped. It is stored in oversized storage area. the painting measures 20.5 “ x 19"; 26.25" x 24.5" including frame. 3. The silver coffee service includes a total of seven pieces; teapot, cream and sugar dishes, and a tray. All are plated and are not a matching set.
