- Notes
- On the eve of the sixth anniversary of the Centre communautaire juif (CCJ) [the label on the film gives the reference]. A brief introduction by Michel Chocron, president of the Sephardic Community, leads to a much lengthier talk by James Dahan (?), director of the CCJ, who helps explain the two francophone groups, the District and the Y, and how they fused into one. He explains the no-smoking policy begun at Le District and continued at the Y group. Sitting among other groups at the meeting, Mr. Dahan gives elaborate and convoluted explanations of the bureaucratic structure that has helped to build the CCJ, his leadership and its pressures, and the role he plays in regard to various groups. Among the initial festivities in the first four minutes, a giant fake cake is brought out and the congregation sings Happy Birthday.
