- OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, December 23, 1948, Page 5 Mrs. E. Marcus Dies in Hospital, Passes after Illness of Several Years; Funeral Tomorrow Many friends will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Ethel Marcus, 85, widow of Joseph Marcus, which occurred early this morning at the General Hospital, after an illness of several years. Mrs. Marcus was born in Russia and came to Canada when she was 27. She resided in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, for a number of years and came to Saint John 51 years ago. Mrs. Marcus was the honorary president of the Daughters of Israel Society. Surviving are four sons, J. D. Marcus, Max Marcus, and H. L. Marcus, all of this city; Dr. Joseph Marcus, Los Angeles, California, and one daughter, Miss Betty Marcus, of Saint John, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Friday morning at 11 o’clock from her residence, 42 Carmarthen Street, with interment at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery, Fernhill. Resting at her residence, 42 Carmarthen Street, from where the funeral will be held on Friday morning at 11 o’clock. Internment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
